Local Power UK’s Gender Equality Plan (GEP)

  1. Public Commitment
    Local Power UK is committed to promoting gender equality within the organisation. This Gender Equality Plan (GEP) is formally adopted, publicly available on our website, and endorsed by senior leadership.
  2. Dedicated Resources
    Local Power UK commits appropriate staff time and organisational resources to implement this Plan.
    Responsibility for oversight of this GEP is assigned to senior management. Where necessary, external gender expertise may be engaged to support implementation.
  3. Data Collection and Monitoring
    Local Power UK will collect and monitor sex- and gender-disaggregated data relating to: • Staff composition
    • Leadership representation
    • Recruitment and career progression 

    Data will be reviewed annually to identify any disparities. Findings will inform organisational decision-making.

  4. Training
    Local Power UK will provide periodic awareness-raising and training for staff and decision-makers on:
    • Gender equality
    • Unconscious bias
    • Prevention of gender-based discrimination and harassment
  5. Areas Addressed
    Local Power UK commits to addressing the following areas through appropriate measures:  

    1. Work-life balance and organisational culture: Including flexible working practices and inclusive workplace policies.
    2. Gender balance in leadership and decision-making: Including fair and transparent recruitment and appointment processes.
    3. Gender equality in recruitment and career progression: Including non-discriminatory hiring and promotion practices.
    4. Integration of the gender dimension into research and teaching content (where applicable): Including consideration of gender perspectives in relevant research and programme work.
    5. Measures against gender-based violence, including sexual harassment: Including clear reporting procedures and zero tolerance for harassment.
